Capitaine, Balmain Eyewear’s premiere Aviator style, clearly builds upon the spirit of some of Olivier Rousteing’s most essential collections, those that channel the spirit of bold nomads, daring pilots and intrepid explorers. While it may be riffing on one of the most traditional of frame styles, the Capitaine definitely shakes things up a bit by omitting the nose bridge and adding two small golden discs stamped with the Balmain monogram to the oversized lenses. With each season, Capitaine references the latest Balmain runway moments, which is why it remains one of the favorite choices for Balmain’s many celebrity followers. For Fall 2023, the frame incorporates a striking palette of rich rose-gold, dark chocolate-brown, brown, and black tones, in order to channel the Paris Fashion week successes of Olivier Rousteing’s most recent Egyptian-themed collections, inspired by the impressive culture and designs of the ancient pharaohs.
